Karhu

Karhu (Finnish for Bear) is a fabulous Finnish company which combines 2 of our favourite things, Nordic Design and Running!

Karhu began in 1916 in a small workshop in downtown Helsinki where locally sourced birch is transformed into the first products: javelins, skis and discuses. Running shoes are also developed and land on the feet of Hannes Kolehmainen, the first “Flying Finn”, and Ville Ritola.

In 1920 the company changed its name to Karhu and “The Flying Finns” dominate tracks around the world, garnering recognition for Karhu running shoes. Karhu continues to be a leading running shoe brand, however they also make a great range of street shoes and apparel.
