When? September 4th - September 14th, 2025 (ex Helsinki)
Together with Melbourne based travel company 50° North, Pappa Sven are hosting a Design & Lifestyle Tour to Finland, something we have been dreaming of for years.
The itinerary is still subject to change, however all dates and accommodation are confirmed.
The tour will be led by Libby & Helene from Pappa Sven and will focus on all the things we love about Finland. Finnish Design, Printmaking, Sauna, Sisu, The Finnish forest and a behind the scenes tour with some of our most loved suppliers.
We have a maximum 16 spots for the tour.
The cost is $8900 per person in shared twin/double rooms
A $150 non refundable deposit is required to secure a spot on the trip. Please note, that if we do not get sufficient interest and cancel the trip, we will provide a full refund.
Once the trip is confirmed a 20% deposit will be required by October 10th, 2024
The balance is due 90 days prior to travel.
All costs are ex Helsinki (travel to and from Finland are not included)
Thursday 4th - Tuesday 9th September, 2025
Location : Helsinki
Accommodation : F6 Hotel , Superior Rooms, all breakfasts & 3 dinners included
Our welcome dinner (included in the cost) will be held at the Ravintola Savoy which was opened in June 1937. The interior was designed by Aino & Alvar Aalto and is the perfect place for us to settle into our love affair with Helsinki.
While in Helsinki we will introduce you to this beautiful city by foot in an architecture & design walking tour with a local guide.
We will also have a very special visit to Marimekko Print House & Head Office, Artek and Lapuan Kankurit. We will have a guided tour of Alvar Aalto's House & Studio as well as the Helsinki Design Museum.
We will visit 2 city saunas, Lonna & Löyly and introduce you to the concept of Sisu, sauna etiquette & Finnish lifestyle with a local author and 'sauna expert.'
During this time it will also be Helsinki Design Week so there will be other activities planned around this event once the HDW 2025 schedule has been confirmed. These events are to be advised, but will be super exciting!
Tuesday 9th September - Thursday 11th September
Location : Fiskars Village
Accommodation : The Torby, Superior Rooms, all breakfasts included.
We will travel via mini coach to the beautiful village of Fiskars, a town known for its design, artistic community and beautiful forest trails.
En route to Fiskars we will visit the iittala glass factory, iittala museum & outlet and the incredible Paimio Sanatorium (another architectural highlight of the Aalto's) and the Artek Furniture Factory.
In Fiskars we will meet with local artisans to share their stories of creativity and life in Fiskars as well as a guided tour of the village and museum. We will experience the village sauna in Fiskars.
Optional forest walks & lake swim will be available. Paths will lead you from the historical surroundings to the peaceful nature where there is room to breath and pause
Thursday 11th September - Saturday 13th September
Location : Nuuksio National Park
Accommodation : Hawkihill Cottages, all meals included.
We will continue our journey to experience the Finnish forest at Nuuksio National Park. We will be staying in traditional wooden cottages on the lake where you can also enjoy the best of the Finnish Forest, in total comfort.
We will be welcomed at Hawkhill to a 3 course dinner full of Finnish flavours and local produce.
Each cabin has its own sauna, little beach, pier and row boat to explore at your leisure. This is a time to settle in and soak up the natural environment.
While at Hawkhill you will also have the option to participate in outdoor workshops such as Building a Finnish bird house, Harvesting Wild Herbs Course & Herb Tea Tasting
Our final night at Hawkhill will include an outdoor dinner served at Hawkhills Forest restaurant Korpelan Laavu, with a private wilderness chef.
Saturday 13th September - Sunday 14th September
Location : Helsinki
Accommodation : F6 Hotel , Standard Rooms, breakfast included
We will be returning to Helsinki in the midst of Habitare, the leading furniture, design and interior event in the Nordics. We will be given a guided tour of the fair by programme director Pia Sievinen.
A farewell dinner in Helsinki and time to revisit any of the places we missed at the start of the trip, and one last karelian pie...
