Pappa Sven Workshops - Nordic Sailors & Fishermens Sweater Workshop for Adventurous Beginner Knitters

Danish Knitter, Lottie Rahbek's book ' Nordic Sailors and Fishermen's Sweaters' is an absolute favourite at Pappa Sven and we thought it would be great to run a workshop based on the patterns in the book.

Inspired by traditional sweater styles worn by sailors and fishermen in the 19th and early 20th centuries, the collection is based on a photographic archive from the Maritime Museum in the eastern Denmark town of Helsingør.

Our fabulous knitting teacher, Valerie, will talk you through the various patterns in the book and the techniques required for the intermediate level projects. You will create at least 4 swatches using a variety of stitch patterns from the book.

The workshop will be carried out over 2 weeks and all materials will be supplied.

What you will learn:

Over the two sessions you will learn the following skills;

• Long tail cast on
• Deciphering a pattern
• Reading Knitting charts
• Creating a range of stitch patterns from the book

Prior Knowledge

This workshop is suitable for competent beginner knitters but participants should know how to do the knit and purl stitch and be confident with casting on.

Our Teacher

This workshop will be run by Valerie who is a very talented & experienced knitter, a lover of wool & natural fibres and a really calm, positive person to learn from.

Please note that this is a 2 week workshop and you will need to commit to both weeks.
