Celebrate International Women's Day 2020 with Pappa Sven & The Embassy of Sweden

To celebrate International Womens Day this year, Pappa Sven in partnership with the Embassy of Sweden, are having a special screening of the film 'Becoming Astrid'.

Astrid Lindgren is one of Sweden's most well known authors and is most famous for her stories of Pippi Longstocking, the strongest and most independent girl in the world. When Astrid Lindgren was very young something happened that affected her profoundly, and this combination of both miracle and calamity came to shape her entire life. It was an event that transformed her into one of the most inspiring women of our age and the storyteller a whole world would come to love. This is the story of when a young Astrid, despite the expectations of her time and religious upbringing, decided to break free from society's norms and follow her heart.

It is a beautiful , yet heartbreaking film, that is sure to inspire and encourage women of all ages. (Not suitable for children).

We thought it would be wonderful to celebrate International Women's Day together here in Newcastle with this special screening of Becoming Astrid. Many thanks to the Embassy of Sweden in supporting us with this exclusive Newcastle event.
