Lapuan Kankurit x Teemu Järvi Kettu (Fox) Towel 46 x 70cm

$45.00

The Lapuan Kankurit x Teemu Järvi collection was launched in 2017 and features a variety of nature-inspired kitchen and table textiles. Teemu Järvi is an artist and designer specializing in nature themes. Every piece he creates is rooted in a deep personal experience of nature: Teemu spends a large part of the year in forests and on the water. He collects or sources the models for his designs and many of his tools himself. This approach results in products that build a bridge from the busy urban life to the timeless, calming world of nature.

Lapuan Kankurit weave this tea towel in their weaving mill in Lapua, Finland, using fully traceable raw materials: European long-staple linen and bio-organic cotton. Their unique finishing facility, located next to the weaving mill in Lapua, allows us to give these textiles a high-quality finish. This means that, with proper care, the textile will retain its shape in home washing and maintain its form wash after wash.

The linen–cotton towel is long-lasting and only improves with use. Please note that the towel requires a few washes before its absorbency fully develops.

This product has a hanging loop on the short side. It can also be used as a baking cloth, hand towel, or small multipurpose cloth.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER :

“I want to capture that moment of coming face to face with a wild animal.”

Teemu Järvi is an artist and designer who specialises in wilderness themes. His art and projects include a wide range of printmaking, book and magazine illustrations as well as product designs and concepts. The works derive from the artist’s lifelong love of nature. A ceaseless explorer of Finnish woods and lakes, Teemu is familiar with the wildlife through first-hand experience. Like a hunter-gatherer of old, he too has a deep connection with the tools and models he uses.

His works of art transport us from our hectic urban existence to the soothing calm of primeval wilderness. His craftsmanship is intimate and he works with traditional tools such as the reed pen. His work focuses on the essential: the amazingly complex and diverse nature, ever diminishing under the stress of our modern life. Teemu Järvi started co-operation with Lapuan Kankurit 2017 with several kitchen designs and they have been working together ever since.
