Are you a competent knitter that would like to extend your skills?
Our beautiful Norwegian friend Synnøve would love to share her Norwegian Fingerless Gloves pattern with you AND teach you how to make them. (But don't tell her Mum who lives in Tromso and thinks fingerless mittens are a silly idea :))
Prior Knowledge
Participants must be able to cast on and be confident with the knit and purl stitch. Please note that this class is not suitable for a beginner knitter.
What you will learn:
Over the two sessions you will learn the following skills;
- Long tail cast on
- Continental Knitting technique
- Increasing stitches (Left leaning & Right Leaning)
- Stranded knitting the Norwegian way, using a chart
- Decreasing stitches
- Thumb Shaping
- Picking up Stitches
- Finishing
- Blocking
Please note this project can also be completed using the magic loop method. If you would prefer this method please BYO circular needles (Length 80cm + 3mm & 3.5mm)
Our Teacher Synnøve Mackintosh (Knitsyn on Ravelry)
Synnøve is a passionate Norwegian knitter and designer and an active member of the Newcastle Knitters Guild. Synnøve grew up in Trømso in the very north of Norway and was taught to knit by her mother & grandmother from a very young age. She has a very strong connection to her Nordic heritage and is inspired by the traditional Norwegian patterns she grew up with in creating new designs and projects.
Synnøve is not a qualified teacher but she is passionate about sharing her love and knowledge of knitting with you all.
