Arabia Moomin Mug - Moominhouse
Since our most recent trip to Finland we have become completely Moomin obsessed!! Hiking through the forests in Finland made us really understand these adorable characters created by Tove Jansson in 1945 and the beautiful land in which they live.
The Moomins are a family of white and roundish trolls with large snouts.
The Moomin family and their friends live an adventurous life in the idyllic and peaceful Moominvalley in harmony with nature. The largest building in the valley is the Moominhouse, and its occupants welcome all visitors from the valley and further afield.
The Moomins love the sea and sometimes, they set out on journeys of exploration that take them far from Moominvalley, but they know they always have a safe home to return to. As autumn approaches, the Moomins prepare to hibernate. By the time Moominvalley is carpeted in snow, the Moomins are already in a deep sleep.
These mugs are a really special gift and collectors item.
The Moominhouse mug was added to the collection in 2015, to celebrate the 70 year anniversary of the first Moomin story 'The Moomins and the Great Flood'. The story tells of Moominmamma and Moomintrolls search for the lost Moominpappa, this search in turn leads them to Moominvalley. And so it all began 70 years ago.
The mug depicts the house with the Moomins and their friends at the windows and Moominmamma at the front door with her handbag.
