Women in Design - From Aino Aalto to Eva Zeisel
Now this book isn't technically a Nordic Book, but it does include some of our most loved female Nordic designers such as Aino Aalto (iittala & Artek), Maija Isola & Vuokko Eskolin-Nurmesniemi (Marimekko) and was recommended to us by one of our lovely neighbours who lreceived it as gift and just loves it!
Women in Design – From Aino Aalto to Eva Zeisel is a major new book that traces the role of women designers over the last one hundred years and celebrates their accomplishments in all fields of design endeavour, including: architecture, interior design, fashion, textiles, furniture, lighting, products, automotive design and graphics. Some of the designers featured are well-known names, while others less so, but still crucial to the fascinating story of how women – often against the odds – have used their creativity and female ingenuity to create innovative and often beautiful designs over the decades. This publication also traces how the success of early women designers went on to inspire other women to similarly pursue their own professional dreams, which helped change the goals and focus of design and ultimately the course of its history.
"Offering an alternative, female-focused history, Women in Design is an essential new tome dedicated to the innovators who have shaped the design world.” ELLE Deco
