Marimekko Unikko Cotton / Linen Fabric

This photo does not do this fabric justice. It is just so beautiful, sadly it needs to be seen in real life to realise how beautiful it really is!

I love a community collaboration and this year the wonderful Bec Bowie, owner of the Newcastle Beachside cafe Estabar, and I had been planning a fabulous Celebration of Spring Festival. We wanted to celebrate beautiful season and remind everyone of the fresh produce that was available, and decorate Estabar using tour Marimekko Spring inspired prints ..and what could have been better than this?

I have been dreaming of long lunches at Estabar with trestle tables covered with this gorgeous Unikko Cotton /Linen  fabric and all of our favourite people gathering together ...

But alas there have been some changes and we are not quite sure yet how this event will eventuate, but now we have the fabric and you can decorate your own beautiful table, make the most gorgeous cushions or even the most perfect blind fro your kitchen?

Marimekko’s famous poppy pattern Unikko was born in 1964 in a time when the design house’s collections featured mostly abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting from this organic theme and designed an entire range of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower represents creativity.
