Marimekko Autumn Winter 2018 Collection

For the Fall 2018 collection the Marimekko design team drew its inspiration from wood, a nature's symbol for growth. This inspiration is shown in the collection through functional forms, muted colours and organic prints. The collection continues to showcase Marimekko's art of print making through a dialogue between prints: iconic archive patterns created in 1950's and 1960's by Maija, Isola and Annika Rimala meet wood inspired, contemporary prints by younger-generation designers Aino-Maija Metsola, Maija Louekari and Carina Seth-Andersson. After the bloomy summer season, the colour scale radiates light and warmth. Ripened colours from Finnish nature's fall landscape are paired with surprising pastel accents.
